What support is on offer?

If you’re a Glasgow-based start-up or SMEs, you can get access to a wide range of specialist support. There are 10 different lots of support available to you, you can find the full list here.

FirstImpact deliver the Business Structuring, Business Growth and Financial Management support to purpose-driven start-ups and SMEs.

Business Structuring (lot 1)

Advisors will work with you to understand your stage of development. They’ll help you review your organisation’s structure, direction, and aadaptability, whilst safeguarding your company’s purpose. Our expertise is focused on these areas: board development, company structuring, and ethical management.

Business Growth (lot 2)

We’ve supported thousands of purpose-led organisations on their journey towards growth. Our experienced business advisors will help you develop, test, operationalise, improve, and futureproof strategies for growth. We will focus our expertise on supporting these areas: strategic planning, sales and marketing, pitching and procurement and operations management.

Financial Management (lot 4)

We can support you to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills relating to financial management. Our experts can help you to put learning into practice, operationalise new processes, and future proof systems for what lies ahead. We focus our expertise on these areas: financial management, financial readiness, preparing for investment, and alternative finance.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for support, you:

  • Are a community interest company, limited company, limited liability partnership, public limited company, sole trader or legally constituted third sector organisation

  • Employ less than 250 employees

  • Operate from within Glasgow City Council boundary and, if in business premises, must be registered with the Non-Domestic Rates office within the Council

  • Are not engaged in activities or industries that could be deemed unethical (i.e. gambling)

How do I access support?

If you are eligible then you can get access to a range of support options, as listed above,through a tiered Business Voucher Programme. Provided by the Glasgow City Council, this programme is designed to give you access to a range of suppliers who are best suited to assist with your future growth plans.

To access this support there are a few key steps:

  1. Complete a simple Inclusive Growth Business Diagnostic questionnaire.

  2. The team at Glasgow City Council will confirm your voucher allocation within 2-3 weeks.

  3. Pick the supplier you would like to work with.

  4. Access Support.

If you choose us, we will work flexibly with you, agreeing a tailored programme of support that focusses on key areas of development within your allocated voucher allowance. Together we will agree key milestones and outcomes to help measure and celebrate progress and success.
